Elk Island Public School Division invites applicants for the position of Assistant Principal at Rudolph Hennig Junior High effective the school year.


Rudolph Hennig Junior High serves approximately 440 students in grades 7 to 9, with 23 teaching staff and 9 support staff.

The school is located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, approximately 20 kilometres north of Sherwood Park, AB.

Rudolph Hennig Junior High staff are committed to fostering success in all students.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working within the framework of the School Education Plan to promote a cycle of improvement and assurance.

Collaboration with community resource networks and facilitating connections with external social program agencies within the City of Fort Saskatchewan.

Conferring with students, parents and staff to navigate solutions within a lens of restorative practices.

Creation and promotion of school wellness initiatives within the domains of physical and mental well-being.


Developing innovative and creative strategies to increase student engagement, including the necessary supports for the success of students in inclusive settings.

Building relationships with students, staff and families to maintain a positive school culture.

Maintaining high visibility and accessibility during the school day, including classroom visitations.

Providing leadership in creating opportunities for teacher collaboration.

Setting, maintaining and modeling high standards of professional conduct.

Supervision, observations and evaluations of staff.

Effective verbal and written communications with a variety of groups and individuals.

Maintenance of Emergency Preparedness Protocols.

Collaborating with Student Transportation.

Assisting with timetabling and staffing.

Contributing to budgeting and staffing processes.

Planning and deploying professional development opportunities for staff.


Experience, Training, Requirements:

Valid Permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate

Minimum five years successful teaching experience

Master's degree or nearing completion of a Master's program would be considered an asset

Experience as an Assistant Principal would be considered an asset
