Telecom Construction Labourer / Operator

What you will do
- Review all design drawings and maps to deliver network build according to design and municipal permit requirements.
- Assist in the daily preparation of planned work activities and materials required for maximizing efficiency.
- Load, transport and unload construction vehicles and materials according to safety protocols
- Set the installation of road safety signs and cones on site according to approved traffic control plans
- Perform regular inspections and conduct maintenance of construction equipment to prevent damage and minimize downtime.
- Thoroughly review utility locates to determine safe locations for digging pits and trenches
- Conduct site surveys and mark locations for planned installation of network infrastructure according to detailed design requirements
- Operate Mini Excavator or assist operator to perform utility spotting during excavation of pits and trenches.
- Perform mainline splicing of micro ducts, install vaults, and breakout service drops to customer premise and/or property line according to design
- Install service drops from property line to side of home
- Perform postimplementation cleanup and restoration work to return ground conditions and grading to original state
- Adhere to all workplace safety protocols and procedures
- Completion of daily dockets to report progress
- Represent Vision as a respectful guest within the communities we serve.
Qualifications
- 2 years of construction experience
- 1 year of experience working in telecom network construction
- 1 year experience with the operation of Mini Excavators and Skid Steers.
- 1 year experience and knowledge with reading and understanding utility locates.
- 1 year experience in fibre jetting a strong asset.
- 1 year experience in conduit splicing, installation of vaults, service breakouts and drops a strong asset
- Experience with micro duct placement, vault installation and conduit splicing a strong asset
- Valid Ontario G class license with safe driving record
- Excellent work ethic with commitment to quality and firsttime right principles
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment to help build a positive work culture.
- Must be able to work in a high paced and dynamic working environment
- Physically fit and capable of lifting 50+ lbs
- Perform different construction tasks using rakes, shovels, and related construction tools
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.

- Wainfleet, Grimsby, Lincoln, Hamilton and Oakville
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Salary:
$26.00-$35.00 per hour
