Determines and manages tasks, issues, risks, and action items. Schedules and facilitates scrum events, meetings, and decision-making processes. Monitors progress and performance, and helps teams to make improvements. Plans and organizes demos and product/system testing.
Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job)
- Ensures that development teams follow scrum framework values and agile practices. Mentors and motivates the teams to improve processes, facilitates team meetings and decision-making processes, and eliminates team impediments.
- As a servant-leader, guide the team towards self-organization and build a collaborative culture that embraces problem solving, health tension and feedback.
- Facilitates Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Demos, Retrospective meetings, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Keep current with emerging practices and ideas to be able to propose improvements and innovations that would extend the impact of agile practices through the organization.
- Ensure the teams maintain focus on quality and continuous delivery.
- Ensures Sprint Retrospective Action items are implemented and tracked to closure.
- Remove impediments to the scrum team's progress.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus on business administration, information technology, or related discipline.
In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the key responsibilities of the role will be considered as a substitute for the degree.
Experience, Skills and Key CompetenciesA minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Scrum Master within cross-functional agile teams.
Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Indepth knowledge of Agile practices.
- Able to effectively manage and mentor development and product teams, and foster a positive and teamwork oriented environment.
- Solid project management skills with the ability to effectively suspend and resume work activities as priorities shift.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and can easily tailor communications to a specific audience or call to action.
- Ability to influence others and build consensus to reach goals.
- Comfortable with taking ownership of work and independently completing assignments with moderate supervision.
