  • We are seeking a temporary costume Dresser to join KOOZA, a Cirque du Soleil production, for Toronto, ON. We strive to create an environment unlike any other entertainment event worldwide. YOUR MISSION

Primary Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the head of wardrobe and under the supervision of wardrobe assistants, main duties are running the show tracks and maintaining costumes and costumes accessories.
  • Daily ironing and steaming of costumes;
  • Dispatching costumes in artists' dressing rooms;
  • Maintaining integrity and safety of all costumes and costume accessories (this includes emergency repairs, alteration work and mending work);
  • Daily washing of costumes (this includes hand washing and machine washing);
  • Daily inspection of all costumes for holes, tears or stains;
  • Presetting all costumes and props backstage during show calls according to daily cast changes;
  • Running cue track and assisting artists with dressing and quick changes;
  • Being prepared to quickly answer requests in English coming from artists, wardrobe staff or technical staff under stressful circumstances;
  • Working on sewing or crafts projects;
  • Maintaining a clean and secure work environment (this includes weekly cleanup of all wardrobe spaces);
  • Carrying out all other wardrobe projects and tasks assigned by HOW.
  • 35years'experience as aprofessional seamstress
  • Experience in costume repairs on largescale stage productions;
  • Ability to use domestic as well as industrial sewing machines and ability to hand stitch;
  • Technical skills in the areas of costume building, painting, shoe repair, millinery, makeup and hairstyling or other related theatrical crafts is an asset;
  • Spoken English and ability to read basic English is essential
  • Ability to communicate directly with artists on a daily basis in a calm and professional manner.
  • Being able to organize one's own workload with little supervision;
  • Being comfortable working under pressure in a stressful and everchanging environment;
  • Good health and good eyesight necessary;
  • Being comfortable working in standing position for long periods of time;
  • Wearing black clothing (long sleeves, long pants, flat shoes) while running show track;
  • Ability to bend, kneel, lift and carry weights up to15kg is essential
  • Being available to work 5 to 6 days a week for between 35 to 40 hours weekly;
  • Being committed to the whole city run.
