Description

The Gender Based Violence (GBV)Community Engagement Manager will provide direct services using client-centered, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed framework to strengthen the GBV sector and scale up the "Still I Rise" gender-based violence program (based on the tree of life model) to better meet the needs of South Asian, Black and Arab women in Manitoba.

The GBV Community Engagement Manager will partner with Manitoba Association of Women's Shelters (MAWS) to engage with at-risk and underserved populations to develop measurement tools and indicators grounded in culturally relevant practices to address the root causes of GBV in a culturally sensitive way.


Responsibilities

  • Connect and partner with newcomer settlement agencies to recruit and deliver the "Still I Rise" project to their participants.
  • Recruit Ethnocultural Community leaders/elders for various workshop that will increase awareness of the program within the community,
  • Develop strategic partnership with Manitoba Association of Shelters to design a hybrid model of delivery for revised workshop components that will be delivered to shelters and second stage residents.
  • Adapt and update group materials after receiving feedback from Advisory group on ways to culturally respond to violence.
  • Develop strategic partnership with all 14 Shelters across Manitoba to deliver virtual workshop modules to residents and participants of the shelters.
  • Contribute to program development through ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This includes identifying gaps in offerings services and creatively working within the team to meet these short falls.
  • Developing best practices tools and resources to support agencies in utilizing ECRC GBV early intervention and prevention promising practices in program delivery.
  • Develop and share case studies demonstrating project impact that will be used within GBV Knowledge Centre.
  • Plan, Coordinate and Facilitate professional development programming, including webinars and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree in the social services field with over 5 years of experience.
  • Experience providing shortterm, and/or crisis counseling to individual who have been impacted by genderbased violence, mental health, and complex trauma,
  • Experience in the development, organization, and facilitation of therapeutic and psychoeducation groups,
  • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity is required to work effectively with the diversity of our client base.
  • Knowledge of the resources available in the community to individual experiencing genderbased violence, and other barriers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluency in a second/third language an asset
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team environment, align with the motivation to selfdirect your work and be constructive in unsupervised situations
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills,
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated decision making abilities.
  • Basic computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Nonjudgmental and accepting attitude
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • A valid driver's license and a vehicle is a requirement.

Work Hours:
Non

- standard hours of work, day and evenings flexibility required.

Required to work one evening shift per week. However, the hours of work will be between 9:00am-5:00pm Mondays to Fridays.
