The City of Kenora is looking for students for summer employment This is your chance to be part of a dynamic and innovative team of professionals who work hard to ensure the best possible experience for all of our residents and visitors.

This position will be the first point of contact for visitors at the Travel Centre or downtown Pavilion and will be responsible for greeting visitors in a friendly, professional manner and providing accurate and detailed information about local attractions, accommodations, and events in the Kenora area.

In addition, they will manage information hot lines, maintain tourism statistics, and answer phone inquiries. They will also assist with event set up and take down as required.


Qualifications:


  • Must be a fulltime student in the school year at a secondary or postsecondary education institution and be returning to school fulltime for the school season
  • Good knowledge and appreciation of the City of Kenora, specifically its history, attractions, events, and accommodations
  • Cash handling and report writing experience would be an asset
  • Must be available to attend and complete mandatory safety training and orientation
  • Possess good communication skills with ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service & interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Possess a valid driver's license (minimum G2) in good standing is required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Valid standard First Aid or AED training would be an asset

Hours: 40 hours per week including weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays


Rate:
$18.13/hr


Students will be required to provide the City with a clean criminal record check, drivers abstract, and proof of enrolment if successful in a summer position with the City of Kenora.
