Position Overview:


Reporting directly to the Finance Coordinator, the Finance Assistant will provide financial, administrative and clerical support within the Finance department, to ensure efficient and accurate financial management of our accounts payable and inventory processes.

The Finance Assistant will also be a primary support for our main phone line.


The Finance Assistant will:


  • Cross reference invoices with receiving documents and purchase orders.
  • Verify totals on invoices and assign general ledger accounts.
  • Provide accurate data entry into the Accounts Payable system.
  • Follow up with management and department staff on overdue invoices and approval requests.
  • Research and resolve account discrepancies.
  • Set up, track and report on inventory cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
  • Use accounting knowledge to complete appropriate and accurate inventory adjustments.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly inventory reporting requirements, including analysis of consignment and rental inventory, and branch transfers.
  • Provide backup support for the main phone line and ensure accuracy of call transfers.
  • Assist other staff in the finance department as required.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • 2+ years related experience working in a Finance position.
  • Ability to present information in spreadsheets and shared documents
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven organizational skills combined with good analytical and problem solving capability.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform in a fastpaced environment
  • Willing to learn and is looking to grow with the company

Education:


  • Post secondary graduate or equivalent certificate in business administration
