Description

CMP Group Ltd., a leading provider of Marine Products, Construction, and Industrial solutions is seeking an Extruder Operator for the PM shift on a full-time permanent basis to join the Vaughan location/team.

The Extruder Operator reports to the Lead Hand, Plastic department.

This position starts out as a night shift position from 6:30 pm to 7 am, Monday to Wednesday.

However, there will be training for a few weeks during the day from Monday to Wednesday; 7 am to 7 pm days, then it would be move to the night shift for about 5 months.

Depending on the season, it would eventually move to a day shift for about 6 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Hands on safe operation of equipment
  • Assists in trouble shooting and continuous improvement
  • Report equipment and tooling conditions, operating and maintenance recommendations to ensure safe and efficient operating state
  • Open communication with teams and internal departments to ensure production and inventory levels are accurate and advise of any issues that may impact quality, timing or safety
  • Open and complete work orders, documents production, and performs quality inspections
  • Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Maintain tools and supplies in good working order
  • Utilize 4lb impact gun and overhead crane to open and close molds
  • Proficient at operating equipment and meeting targets set by company.

  • Maintain tools and supplies in good working order
  • Maintain work area in a clean state and free from obstructions (6S)
  • Upgrade tooling and trouble shoot production issues pertaining to dies set ups and colour changes
  • Report nonconformance of all production
  • Meets or exceeds cycle times per work orders
  • Cross Train in material handling and part packaging as required
  • Understand and operate company's scanning wedge program
  • Perform daily maintenance check sheet and set up sheets
  • Perform best practice during die set up and change over
  • Ensure that product identification, traceability, process control, packaging instructions are being followed at all times
  • Possess a basic understanding of equipment operation
  • Ensure the Company's quality policies and procedures are strictly adhered to
  • Perform quality inspections and meet standards
  • Maintain all measuring equipment, inspection fixtures and visual aids
  • Promote safe work practices as outlined in the Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Strive for Zerotime lost accidents
  • Adhere to all company safety SOP and equipment safety features
  • Participate in training as required by company or Lead Hand
  • Other duties required by Lead Hand or Plant Manager

REQUIREMENTS:


  • 2 years of operating an Extrusion Press and experience with extrusion operations adjustments
  • 2 years of experience in Injection Molding or Blow Molding
  • 2 years of experience in performing and supervising set up of all production equipment and operation of machinery
  • 2 years of experience with die removal, saw set up, and grinder operations
  • 2 years of experience running profile according to specs and costing
  • 2 years of experience in inspecting tooling using applicable tools, measuring devices and troubleshooting
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and basic math skills

HOURS:


  • 6:30 pm to 7 am Monday to Wednesday. However, there will be training for a few weeks during the day Monday to Wednesday, 7 am to 7 pm days, and then it would be move to the night shift for about 5 months. Depending on the season, it would eventually move to a day shift for about 6 months.
