Manager Pension & Benefits
Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, the Manager, Pensions and Benefits is responsible for the administration of Defined Benefits & Defined Contribution pension, supplemental pension plans, and the management of all employee and retiree benefit plans.
Duties:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Ensure that all pension and benefit plans, contracts, agreements, and policies comply with legislated and negotiated changes
- Manage the requests of external and internal auditors with respect to pension plan audits
- Liaise with senior HR and site human resources or union representatives on pension matters as they relate to pension entitlements, collective bargaining strategy and required changes due to legislative or negotiated changes
- Act as a resource for the HR team and resolve problems or disputes when escalated
- Oversee administration of DB and DC registered and supplemental pension plans, resolving complex transactions and inquiries
- Monitor trends in the marketplace, prevalent practices among peer companies, emerging technologies, and new product solutions to help shape
- Maintain operational excellence through process documentation, controls, and strong vendor management
- Work with Human Resources Information Systems to identify, define and develop solutions to issues related to HR systems
- Identify, define, and develop solutions to issues related to processes with service providers
- Comply and deal with regulatory authorities with respect to the continued registration of the Registered Plans.
- Manage the relationships with pension and benefits services providers including actuarial firms and record keepers
- Formulate policies relative to applicable programs
- In accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreements, chair the joint pension committee meetings
- Prepare annual project plan and operating budget, monitor plan expenditures against budget throughout the year
- Execute the communication strategy regarding benefits, pension plans and policies
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations which control or impact benefit plans and policies
- Oversee a team of pension and benefits professionals to deliver services
Requirements:
- Minimum ten years of progressive senior and relevant work experience
- Degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics is preferred
- Actuary background is a must
- Strong computer skills, in particular, MS Office
Pay:
Up to $150,000.00 per year
