The Safety and Environmental Coordinator is accountable to manage, oversee, and carryout safety/environmental programs and policies relating to applicable local, provincial regulations at the plant level.

The primary responsibilities of this position include planning, developing, implementing, and administering the Occupational Health and Safety / Environmental programs.

Interfacing with other management and hourly personnel regarding safety/environmental issues is also imperative in this position to improve the environment at LMI.


Responsibilities:


  • Investigate and report incidents and accidents regarding safety/environmental issues. Report on accident/environmental data utilizing a computer database to track trends, injury rates, and inputs and waste/outputs for environmental purposes. Use this information to develop current and future loss control strategies and implement corrective actions to prevent similar incidents/injuries and reduce the environmental impact of LMI.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of safety/environmental training and accident prevention methods and carry them out according to company programs and policies.
  • Ensure enforcement of OSHA regulations and company safety policies and any disciplinary actions that may be necessary.
  • Assist with maintain our Occupational Health and Safety program to ISO 45001 standards.
  • Continue our development of an ISO 14001 Environmental program.
  • Develop and attain personal goals based upon key areas of responsibility.
  • Develop positive relationships with local provincial agencies and outside specialists/organizations to enhance the credibility of the company's health and safety/environmental programs Complete job assessments including ergonomics and machine safety/guarding and required periodic inspections of PPE, lockout tagout procedures, AEDs, eyewashes, etc
  • Execute timely coordination and communications in all areas internal and external to our business. Must periodically present safety/environmental information to senior and executive management.
  • Participate or lead other special projects or assignments as assigned by supervisor
  • Recommend plan for budgets and capital expenditures for safety/environmentalrelated issues in relating to the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere to promote safe work practices, a positive safety/environmental culture.
  • Position will require handling of highly confidential safety/government reporting and medical information.
  • Work with HRBP to manage returntowork program and assist with workers compensation claim activity.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects for safety/environmental aspects including ergonomics, lean activities, cost savings, etc
  • Consults with all levels of management and employees, Engineering and outside services including provincial agencies.
  • Representative for any regulatory and record keeping for safety and environmental.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification:


  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or environmental Studies or related fiel
  • 02plus years' experience in the safety or environmental field

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Ability to assertively and efficiently multitask and prioritize work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to communicate safety/environmental information to all audiences.
  • Must be able to work a semiflexible schedule.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time
