The Finance Department at Tangerine is primarily responsible for the capture and reporting of financial information for internal and external audiences in accordance with applicable standards.

In addition, the Finance Department performs other important functions. The Accounts Payable team ensures that all outstanding obligations are discharged on a timely basis.

The Management Accounting Team provides reporting and analysis to support senior management decision making and prepares forecasts each month as to the Bank's expected earnings.

Furthermore, the Management Accounting Team works with the Strategy department and the business to prepare the annual Plan.


The Finance Department continually assesses risks and controls and takes action to ensure there is an effective system of internal control over financial reporting and other Finance functions.

Finance also supports the business to ensure the successful implementation of corporate initiatives.


As part of the broader Management Accounting team, the Financial Analyst plays a critical role within the IT Finance team.

One of the key responsibilities of the role is to ensure accurate and timely information are being captured within the financial systems to enable effective management reporting and decision making.

This requires understanding and processing several invoices and ensuring they are booked to the correct account or project.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance, IT and Project, the Financial Analyst will support in the development of the annual Plan, quarterly forecast, project tracking and variance analysis.

The Financial Analyst, IT Finance will be required to work closely with other functions within the organization, including IT, Accounting, and Project Management Office.

This role requires a curious mindset, and willingness to change and challenge status quo to ensure continuous process improvements with the IT Finance function.


Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Supports month-end and year-end activities.

This includes but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure invoices are processed on a timely and accurate basis
  • Work closely with various teams within Finance, such as the Accounts Payable and General Accounting team and Project Office Management (PMO)
  • Prepare accrual report on a monthly basis and ensure accruals are made as accurately as possible by working closely with IT teams, IT contractors, Project Managers and Scrum Masters/ Product Owners
  • Take ownership of the time tracking tool, including updating the tool with project information and creation of IT project codes
  • Responsible for working with PMO to update on projects' implementation dates and providing the update to Fixed Asset team
  • Support in the development of annual Plan and quarterly forecasts.

This includes but not limited to the following:

  • Gathering of budget inputs from the various IT teams
  • Update tracker sheets (system maintenance and professional fees) on a regular basis during invoice processing so that there is a thorough understanding on actual spend throughout the year for budgeting exercise
  • Pull data from financial systems (OBI, time tracking tool) and update various reports
  • Develops and/or manages financial models for budget and forecasting purposes
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and management across the organization
  • Acts as a backup to the Senior Financial Analyst, when required
  • Participate in special projects as required

Do you have the skills that will enable to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Education/Experience
  • University or College Degree or equivalent experience
  • A recognized accounting designation (e.g. CPA) or working towards a professional accounting designation is preferred
  • 13 years of experience working in a finance department with experience in technology, financial analysis and reporting
  • Aptitude for Information Technology from a financial viewpoint

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point)
