Description

Purpose:


The main purpose of this position is to provide reception and clerical support to the students and staff of the Student Counselling, Health & Well-being (SCHW).

This includes sharing information regarding policies and procedures as they relate to the Student Counselling, Health & Well-being operation and supporting the general office needs.


Education:

High school graduation with specialized training in office administration or general business.


Experience:


Two (2) years recent related experience in a front-line position dealing with clients/visitors, who may present as being in distress (e.g., mental health, disability or emotional issues), at a post-secondary environment or similar setting dealing with people in high risk personal situations.


Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to identify students/clients in potential high-risk situations requiring immediate counselling assistance.
Strong verbal and good written communication skills to provide information in a clear, and concise manner.
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail while under pressure.
Organizational skills including setting priorities of multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
File maintenance and archiving.
Ability to reconcile numbers/basic math including percentages.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Basic Word Processing, intermediate Spreadsheet skills, intermediate electronic calendar scheduling.
Ability to work with large computerized records systems.
Maintaining confidentiality.
