Chemical Shipping and Receiving Technician to work out of our Edmonton, Alberta Facility.

Responsibilities

Determine waste classification and characterization; ensure waste samples obtained and analyzed for incoming and outgoing material
Ensure materials are packaged in proper containers, proper shipping documents are prepared and labelled in accordance with applicable regulations
Stage materials for shipping; consolidate load fragments; weigh and label materials; prepare necessary documentation
Count, weigh and measure incoming and outgoing materials; compare identifying information against manifests, bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; identify and communicate discrepancies
Follow and comply with all environmental health and safety procedures and regulations
Load and unloading from trucks, ensuring load is secured according to, or exceeding standards
Other related duties as directed.
Operate material handling equipment as required including forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies

Qualifications/Abilities

Technical certificate or diploma in chemistry or related discipline
One to two years experience working as a shipper/receiver
Knowledge of chemical and waste management and TDG an asset
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong work ethic
Class 5 Driver's License (there is limited public transportation in the area)
