POSITION: Nurse Practitioner (NP), Safer Opioid Supply Program- Full-time 37.5 hours/ week
STATUS: 10 month Contract

Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work in the Brantford-Brant Safer Opioid Supply (BBSOS) pilot program. The program provides clients with regulated alternatives to street level drugs in an effort to reduce death and harms associated with the toxic illicit supply. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the NP provides prescriptions and supportive treatment for people who use drugs who are accessing BBSOS services. The NP will be delivering primary care services within the Nurse Practitioner (NP) scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The role will be required to make specialist or community referrals as needed, practice supportive counselling, engage in health promotion education, and advocate for clients accessing safer supply. The role will involve ongoing learning and program development, as well as assisting to build capacity for safer supply in the Brantford-Brant area.
The NP will also support processes for quality improvement and evaluation as needed
Requirements:
• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario; Master's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years' nursing experience. Primary care, community health or street nursing experience is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in harm reduction and knowledge of injection drug use; values aligned with an anti-oppressive harm reduction approach to service delivery.
• Completion or enrolment in advanced education in addictions/ controlled substances courses (CAMH, OAT, etc.) is an asset.
• Experience working with people who use drugs as service users and colleagues.
• Experience in overdose prevention/ response; knowledge of Naloxone administration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices.
• Skills in conflict de-escalation, interpersonal relations, and counseling.
• Strong understanding of the social determinants of health and structural factors impacting the health and wellbeing of communities.
• Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation is an asset.
Hours of work– primarily days; to include some evening, weekend work as required.
