Position Title:
Supervisor Residential Services


Reports to:
Residential Services Manager


Job Summary:
Plans, organizes, manages, and directs a team of Residential Support Workers in a residential group home setting.

Responsible for ensuring that all programs function effectively to meet the needs of participants and all staff work in accordance with CLBC Funding and contractual obligations, 28th Avenue Homes Ltd.

policies and procedures, Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Residential Care Regulations where applicable. This position is excluded from union membership.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Protect the rights of the individual residents and facilitate optimal independence and quality of life.
  • Follow established protocols, procedures, and behaviour/safety support plans.
  • Work with Program Manager to develop, implement and evaluate the residence's goals, objectives, policies and procedures and ensures the required standards are maintained.
  • Brings identified physical and program needs of the residential programs to appropriate authority.
  • Plans with the Manager and Human Resources for staff needs and/or changes.
  • Responsible for Performance Management of Residential Support Workers up to and including disciplinary action.
  • Understands and applies the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Regulations appropriately. Consults with the Manager for guidance and interpretation when needed.
  • Understands and follows licensing requirements, CLBC requirements, and CARF requirements. Consults with the Manager for guidance and interpretation as needed.
  • Prepares for CARF and licensing inspections.
  • Collaborates on return-to-work planning with Human Resources.
  • Manages staff conflicts and disputes in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
  • Scheduling staff per agency policy and the collective agreement.
  • Provides complete and timely orientation for new employees on policies and procedures, support protocol and techniques, health and safety, and documentation.
  • Identifies all the needs of staff for professional development and assigns learning modules to employees per agency policy or as needed.
  • Oversees, authorizes and allocates expenditures within the operating budget for the year and assists the Manager in preparing the budget.
  • Assigns key worker duties to employees.
  • Prepares and maintains all necessary documentation in accordance with privacy legislation.
  • Liaises with the community, government, families, officials and professional organizations to promote community involvement in the various programs.
  • Ensures cleanliness, safety, security and maintenance of the residence in accordance with CLBC, Licensing Standards and Accreditation.
  • Participates in 28th Avenue Homes Ltd. committees relevant to residential programs. E.g. Accreditation, Health and Safety, etc.
  • Required to be on call on a rotating basis with other Residential Supervisors as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as required, including professional development.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday. Shifts are 8 hours and may be scheduled with some flexibility.

** please note that there is an on-call weekend rotation every three weekends.

** please note that in order to maintain minimum staffing levels, supervisors may be required to work additional paid hours in situations where there are no staff available to cover absences. This is only used as a last resort after exhausting all other options. _We are currently fully staffed with several casuals on call. _


Wage:

$30 - $33 per hour, negotiable depending on experience.

Benefits:

After successful completion of the probation period, employees are eligible for an employer-paid extended health and dental, and accidental and life insurance benefits.


Pension:

After successful completion of the probation period, employees must enrol in the Municipal Pension Plan. Employer contribution is 9.6% of the wage rate, and employees contribute 8.5% of their wage.


Qualifications:


  • Education in Human Service/Social Work and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within the social services or community support sector.

Or:

2. 5 years of experience in a supervisor role within the social services or community support sector.


Experience and Abilities:


  • Experience creating and implementing behaviour support plans.
  • Experience implementing safety plans.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing relevant legislation, accreditation standards and collective agreements.
  • Experience with performance and attendance management.
  • Experience with conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems where there is no obvious solution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage difficult situations.

Required certificates:


  • Satisfactory criminal record check for working with vulnerable adults.
  • Non-violent crisis interventio
