$69,273-$86,593 per annum

Corporate Finance is a division of Finance, committed to maximizing the value of financial planning with a fixed control on long term financial strategic viewpoints and execution for the Region of Peel.


There are six service groups within Corporate Finance:

Financial Policy and Development Financing, Accounting Services, Loss Management and Insurance Services, Financial Systems Development Support, Peel Housing Corporation Finance and Treasury Services.


What you will do in this role:

In this role you will help ensure that financial statements comply with all Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards, that year-end is efficiently completed and support any financial related issues as they arise.

You will be responsible for ensuring that financial statements and financial analysis are performed accurately and timely.


This role offers a fantastic and challenging opportunity to work closely with all levels of internal clients and have a direct impact on the success of the business.


  • Assist the Supervisor and SFA with the preparation of the Region's consolidated financial statements and notes and the preparation of the Peel Housing Corporation financial statements and notes
  • Assist in preparation the financial statements and notes for the Sinking Fund and Debt Retirement Fund and Trust Fund
  • Liaise with the external auditors for yearend audit, providing working papers and respond to auditor inquiries
  • Assist the team compilation of the financials section of the annual Community for Life Report, including supporting the drafting of the Treasurer's Message
  • Coordinate the submission of the GFOA Award for Financial Reporting
  • Research and assist with the implementation of any PSAB accounting standard changes, including the development of policies, training and note disclosures
  • Prepare financial analysis based on adhoc requests
  • Participate in special projects as required

What the role requires:


  • University degree in Commerce or Business Administration
  • CPA/CGA/CMA/ACCA accounting designation
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive business experience, preferably in the public sector
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities:


  • Knowledge and understanding of PSAB accounting standards
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and PeopleSoft Financials
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and integrity
  • Highly developed verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with internal and external partners
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

  • Experience working with nVision
  • Experience with the preparation of working papers and financial statements

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite.

The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
