SLGI Asset Management brings together the strength of Sun Life Financial with the best in asset management from around the world to offer a line-up of unique world class investment solutions.

As the Manager, you will lead the Account Resolution Team supporting the SLGI Asset Management business line. You will be responsible for building a high performing service team and creating a work environment with exceptional engagement.

You are detail-oriented with a focus on continually striving for clarity and structure of business processes, policies, and standard operating procedures.

You have a demonstrated ability to lead a high performing team and leverage strong change management capabilities. You have an ability to influence and build strong relationships with internal and external business partners.


What will you do?

  • Conduct operational assessments, develop, implement and support policies and procedures to ensure optimum quality and service delivery for Not In Good Order (NIGO) handling
  • Achieve high level of quality for ART through support of training, and coaching employees; capacity planning; communicate performance expectations and compensation decisions
  • Prepare required status and performance reports through analysis and summarizing data and trends
  • Stay current with industry best practices and proactively seek out, analyze, and present best practices for consideration and solution development
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Canadian segregated and mutual fund markets including competitor activity and SLGI competitive position
  • Support Training and Development program by identifying solutions and opportunities that support a strong culture of ongoing people development
  • Foster and promote a work environment that values people, invites creativity, celebrates learning and accountability, and encourages employee participation and engagement
  • Represents the Account Resolution Team on projects and initiatives to support as a SME, as needed
  • Establish and embed with team a strong risk culture to ensure that an effective risk management lens is applied under the 3 Lines of Defense framework
  • Manage internal operational risk and compliance matters and ensure that the team is compliant with our policies through:
  • Support of annual audit activities by collaborating with internal and external audit teams to ensure audit inquiries and gaps are addressed
  • Responsibility for daytoday compliance (ie: regulatory requirements, SLF and SLGI policies and procedures), and identifying/assessing compliance risks
  • Participate in budget reviews and analysis and make budget recommendations

What do you need to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree or College diploma in Business or another related field
  • 5+ years in a leadership role within the Financial Services industry, particularly with Mutual Funds and Segregated Funds and a familiarity of Fundserv, Regulatory and Compliance landscape
  • Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and leading a high performing team
  • Comprehensive consulting and negotiating skills with the ability to impact and influence others
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work with both internal and external partners
  • Indepth problem solving, research and analytical skills with the ability to take initiative and make sound decisions
  • Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize
