The Operational Due Diligence Manager is responsible for working with the Operational Due Diligence (ODD) team to identify, assess, monitor relevant operational risks and report on AIMCo's external fund managers in accordance with AIMCo's Third Party Risk Management Policy and Standard.

The ODD lifecycle at AIMCo consists of an end-to-end risk-based review including materiality assessments, formal operational due diligence, and ongoing monitoring across a wide variety of investment strategies and asset classes.


  • Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new and existing external fund managers and prepare clear and concise ODD reports based on insights from desk reviews and/or onsite visits (covering trade settlement, treasury, valuations, compliance, regulatory, service providers, technology, operational resilience, internal control environment, reputation, etc.).
  • Perform and update materiality assessments for new and existing external fund managers, working with Investment teams to assess relevant operational risks.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring of existing external fund managers using existing tools to identify key changes in the risk environment and support ongoing health checks.
  • Maintain complete and comprehensive documentation on ongoing operational due diligence activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external fund managers.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from the investment teams.
  • Support the ODD Team in achieving its objectives through a collaborative environment and enhancing the program through continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop knowledge and maintain industry awareness with respect to industry standards and leading practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance or Mathematics or another related field supplemented by designations such as CPA, CFA, CAIA or other related designations.
  • Minimum 5 years' direct experience with financial/investment related due diligence,, manager research, internal audit, risk management, compliance or legal functions.
  • Some international travel may be required.
  • Key Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and best practices relating to fund operations, internal controls, risk management, operational due diligence, and compliance.
  • Experience in assessing operational risks.
  • Strong preference for experience in private investments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to tailor technical matters to respective audiences.
  • Proficiency with a Microsoft 365 Environment, including Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other relevant tools.
