The Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC) is a research and development centre at OCAD University where an international community of open source developers, designers, researchers, advocates, and volunteers work together to ensure that emerging information technology and practices are designed inclusively.


Partnership for Financial Inclusion a project of OCADU's Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC) with partnersfunded by the Social Development Partnership (SDP program) will work to address financial inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWD) in Canada to remove existing barriers, prevent emerging obstacles, leverage new opportunities for greater financial inclusion, and build capacity within the disability community.


Responsibilities:


  • Working under the supervision of the project management team in support of the project's goals and objectives.
  • Researching nodes of the data ecosystem with a focus on inclusion and barriers to inclusion.
  • Carrying out two environmental scans: to determine existing barriers in the Canadian financial sector and associated products and services, including both digital and/or online system(s) and, of vulnerabilities to financial fraud, data abuse, misuse, privacy breaches, experienced by persons with disabilities.
  • Carrying out two jurisdictional scans: to identify promising approaches to addressing barriers globally with the assistance of UN bodies and schools of business and economics, and identify promising approaches to data and financial security as it relates to persons with disabilities.
  • Formatting research results to be presentable and easily comprehensible.
  • Maintaining organized files and clearly documenting the procedures followed in handling of the data and subsequent analysis.
  • Attending planning or projectspecific meetings as required.
  • Assist with the recruiting of study participants.
  • Support the coordination of the project by documenting project activities, tracking activities against research plans, producing meeting notes, and communicating with the research team, external partners and participants.
  • Assist with knowledge sharing activities which could include help with organizing research and stakeholder meetings/events and preparing written and data summaries for meetings and dissemination of findings.
  • Present researchbased narratives as needed to the project management team. Here you'll get a chance to discuss your findings and suggest further avenues to explore directly further barriers to participation and employment for persons with disabilities.
  • Adhere to the research ethics procedures, including those concerning privacy of information.
  • Meet deadlines and conduct work in a timely way in a virtual work environment.
  • Participating in the provision of safe and secure environment for all members of the University community and its facilities

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a relevant undergraduate/graduate degree or current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate program and/or equivalent training and professional experience
  • Where relevant, sound knowledge of, and commitment to, healthy and safe work practices
  • Where relevant, strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communications and problemsolving skills
  • Experience with scanning techniques.
  • Experience with participatory techniques an asset.
  • Experience with collaboration, reporting and analysis tools such as Microsoft 365 and Teams an asset.
  • Experience with financial institutions an asset.
  • Experience and acknowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA), and Accessible Canada Act (ACA) an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty

Work Environment:


The incumbent in this role will be expected to work remotely and/or on campus
