OVERVIEW:

Alberta Blue Cross has an exciting 12-month contract opportunity for a quality assurance tester.

This role will be required to work closely with business analysts and technical teams to ensure user requirements have been tested, and defects have been identified and resolved.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Estimate tasks and timelines for testing and identify potential schedule or project problems and provide solutions to alleviate the problems.
  • Review and understand use cases, nonfunctional requirements, and design documents.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, and test scenarios to ensure requirements have been met.
  • Develop automated test scripts and execute test data loading scripts.
  • Create traceability of test cases to requirements.
  • Coordinate and schedule testing in a multiuser, multiproject test environment.
  • Responsible for technical documentation of test results and program specifications including test failures and successes.
  • Execute test cases and interact with the development team to provide test results, report defects and discuss the impacts on product quality.
  • Retest resolved defects, track trends, and report metrics to the business sponsor and project manager.
  • Compile test results and write test reports.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:


  • A minimum of four years' experience developing test cases/scenarios and coordinating system testing or user acceptance testing.
  • A related technical degree or diploma, which focuses on systems development.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both the user community and IS&T.
  • Superior analytical and problemsolving skills, including the ability to recognize symptoms, diagnose causes and identify alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to pay persistent attention to detail, while maintaining an overall view of the situation and the "big picture".
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and meet the challenges of a fastpaced changing environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Visio and experience with ALM, UFT, CFactory would be beneficial.
  • Experience in an Oracle environment using TOAD would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Decisionmaking ability and demonstrated leadership potential is essential.
  • Working knowledge of/experience with Project Management body of knowledge and software development methodologies would be beneficial.
