Architecture49 maintains a strategic business relationship with WSP, a global engineering consultancy. This provides enhanced opportunities for exposure to International projects and a wide range of multidisciplinary expertise. Further, WSP provides Architecture49 with a range of shared services, such as comprehensive benefits, training and corporate programs.
The Opportunity:
A day in the life:
- Research products, and prepare material lists;
- Write, edit, format, and coordinate specification sections;
- Coordinate specifications with contract drawings;
- Evaluate new systems/technologies/equipment;
- Work collaboratively with internal project team members;
- Develop and maintain relationships with project managers, designers, and product vendors;
- Prepare contract addenda during the bidding process;
- Compile project manual submissions; and
- Support construction contract administration activities.
What you'll bring to A49...
- Diploma in architectural technology from Canadian technical college; or Bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural science, or engineering; or equivalent experience;
- Specification writing experience: minimum 2 years (Junior), 6 years (Intermediate), 10 years (Senior);
- Experience in the buildings industry;
- Practical knowledge of Construction Management delivery methodology, and Canadian Construction Document Committee (CCDC) contracts;
- Understand building codes, regulatory, and legislative requirements;
- Software Knowledge: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat;
- Excellent spoken and written English;
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills;
- Great time management skills;
- Highly organized;
- Adaptable, and flexible nature;
- Enjoy diversity in project assignments;
- Aptitude for research, study, and teaching others; and
- Collaborative, and personable approach to work.
Preferred...
- Previous experience writing technical specifications;
- 2 years' experience producing contract drawings as architectural intern or architectural technician; and
- Awareness of current construction law.
Given the importance of keeping one another safe and the growing list of our clients including vaccination status as part of their mandated health and safety requirements to work with them, you will be required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to A49 as a condition of employment.
You may also be required to undergo additional immunization to maintain a fully vaccinated status against COVID-19 whenever local Public Health Authorities recommend additional immunization.
