The Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Associate Director of Carewest Dr. Fanning Center and Support Services, this leadership position oversees Food Services functions across all aspects of the Food Services Departments within Carewest, with Food Services Managers at Carewest sites as direct reports. The incumbent will be accountable for delivering highquality, clientcentered meals in continuing care, subacute and communitybased care environments. An excellent communicator, change agent, and flexible problem solver, this role will provide strong vision and leadership to Food Service Managers and site staff through a centralized service delivery model. The role will serve as an integral member of the central services management team, working in concert with the Manager, Commissary, the Manager for Central Support Services, and site leaders in order to deliver on accountabilities.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Undergraduate degree or postsecondary diploma in food & nutrition, hospitality services; or a red seal chef with experience in executive chef or equivalent roles. Relevant and equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, including onjob experience and trades certificates.
  • A minimum of 7 years progressive experience in food & nutrition or hospitality
  • 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience including implementation of change and a proven track record of achieving required outcomes through positive collaboration
  • Current food safety certification
  • Broad knowledge of health facility support service operations a strong asset
  • Practical understanding of contracting to include commercial terms & conditions
  • Extensive experience in managing partner/service provider relationships.
  • Extensive experience in managing projects to achieve results.
  • Exceptional team communication skills to foster a respectful and motivating environment
  • Strong business acumen to include analytical, budget management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence
- change

  • Knowledge of MealSuite an asset
  • Reliable vehicle and drivers' license required
