JUNIOR FINANCE CONTROLLER

ROLE DESCRIPTION:


Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Finance Controller will play a critical role in reviewing and implementing the strategy of the Group of Companies as it relates to Finance, Procurement, Technology and Human Resources.

As a key member of the

Finance management team, this role is accountable to regulate the ongoing financial health of the organization, as well as ensure all fiscal responsibilities are satisfied in driving the overall strategic growth of the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning _
  • Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance appropriate information systems related to financial information;
  • Provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations;
  • Work in conjunction with the Controller and CEO including all management staff to prepare the annual operating budgets and manage capital requests and financial information;
  • Establish and execute programs for the provisions of the capital required by the Group of Companies, including negotiating the procurement of capital and maintain the required financial arrangements.
  • Operations _
  • Oversee the approval and processing of expenditure and position control documents, general ledger, account maintenance and data entry;
  • Assist in the establishment and ongoing maintenance of credit, collections and purchasing policies;
  • Provide support for monthly P/L, cash flow statement, balance sheet preparation using accounting system;
  • Review weekly payroll and accounts payable batches
  • General ledger maintenance and reconciliation
  • Review all government reporting and remittances
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing review and reporting of project costing module within the accounting system
  • Implement and monitor a purchase order policy and system including the appropriate matching principles
  • Provide oversight on all financial activities related to the Group of Companies
  • Financial Information _
  • Improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate;
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reporting, analysis, and KPI reports.
  • Prepare reports including financial results to the Board of Directors on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Risk Management _
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Finance, Procurement, Technology and Human Resources procedures;
  • Document and maintain adequate, effective internal controls and effective processes;
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal taxation reporting requirements.
  • Third Parties _
  • Maintains relationships with financial institutions;
  • Administers banking arrangements and loan agreements;
  • Maintains adequate sources for the company's current borrowings from commercial banks and other lending institutions.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • CPA designation or working towards a CPA designation;
  • 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting Role;
  • Sage 300 experience is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of best practices with internal controls;
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution;
  • Knowledge of human resources, procurement, technology and change management;
  • Extensive, experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management;
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP software and spreadsheet programs.
