Firefly Counselling and Consulting is looking for a Registered Psychologist, Registered Clinical Social Worker, or Provisional Psychologist to work with adults.

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in working with couples and individuals.

Firefly Counselling is known for its couples therapy work, and we are looking to add to our team to meet client demand in this area.

This is a part-time position or full-time depending on clinician desire and retention rates. Our clients seek out clinicians who can offer a mix of daytime, evening and weekend availability.


Additional areas of treatment request in our client base also include: depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, communication issues, workplace difficulties, life choices, managing personal illness and or illness in parents, partners, and children, and general stress.

We are seeking a psychologist/registered clinical social worker who has training in (or willingness to actively seek training and supervision in) one or more of these therapeutic approaches:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Hypnosis
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Other Research Based Therapeutic Approaches


Firefly Counselling is a recognized mental health service provider for First Nations Non-Insured Health Benefits / Residential Schools Program programs.

Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate experience working with First Nations populations.


While Firefly Counselling offers therapy for a wide range of mental health concerns, we are particularly noted for our work on couples counselling / communication, trauma, anxiety, stress and addictions.

Clinician Requirements:


  • In good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists as a Registered Psychologist or Provisional Psychologist/ or with the Alberta College of Social Workers as a Registered Clinical Social Worker
  • Two or more years of direct experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Must carry $5 million in professional liability insurance
  • Three references with two from established clinicians who have observed your work

Clinician Attributes:


  • Demonstrated ability to provide client focused service and care
  • Ability to maintain a generalist caseload
  • Demonstrated competence in maintaining up to date notes
  • Professional production of requested third party payor reports in a timely manner
  • Actively engaging in clinical practice continuing education
  • Ability to work independently and with other clinicians as needed
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in standard computing skills and software (i.e. M.S. Office)
  • Takes ownership of their actions and decisions
  • Willingness to work a range of hours in order to build a caseload
Firefly Counselling and Consulting offers services to clients from all walks of life. We work with individuals from a variety of orientations, socio-economic statuses, secular / faith based, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We expect our clinicians and clients to treat each other with respect and courtesy at all times.

There may be a therapy dog onsite, and some clients bring certified assistance dogs.
