Position Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Financial Controller, the Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for a wide range of financial functions for the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
Key Responsibilities
- Process manual cheques and electronic payments using approved travel requisitions according to the timeframe indicated in the financial policy manual.
- Coding and entering all financial information into ACCPAC.
- Ensure invoices are reviewed, assessed, and paid in a timely manner and are documented for proper tracking and to unsure elimination of duplicate payment.
- Ensure all invoices are reconciled with purchase orders.
- Ensure cheques receive proper signing authority and are distributed to the recipient in a timely manner.
- Respond to internal and external inquires in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Maintain on going communication with all finance staff to ensure consistency and accuracies' including verification and or compliance on financial transaction.
- Assist in the preparation of AMC annual audit review as directed.
- Develop and maintain an easy access filing system for all filling related to accounts payable, supplier agreements and/or contracts.
- Respond and adhere to financial directives provided by the Director of Finance and the Financial Controller.
- Monthly, ensure that the accounts subledger is reconciled to the general ledger control account.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Graduate from a recognized Accounting/Business Administration program.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent knowledge of computer accounting packages using Sage, Accpac General Ledger, Accpac Accounts Payable, Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent crosscultural skills to work in a First Nations environment.
- Must be able to think analytically and strategically.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative in completing assigned tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as a part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Adhere to AMC policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance, and professional ethics.
- Fluency in a First Nations Language is considered an asset.
- Work flexible hours and travel upon request.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Clear Child Abuse Checks.
