    Major Responsibilities:
  • Constructs, reconstructs & repairs sidewalks, curbs, roads and asphalt infrastructure, etc.
  • Required to operate vehicle to transport coworkers, materials and equipment to job site.
  • Ensures machines and equipment are being maintained in good working condition.
  • Assists crews in the building or rebuilding of catch basins, maintenance access holes etc.
  • May be required to provide work direction to staff.
  • Ensures that the job site is left in a clean and safe manner and that all equipment and tools are secured at job site or returned to yard.
  • Ensures that work is performed in a clean and safe manner. Sets out cones and flashers as required and ensure proper traffic control devices are in place.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Key Qualifications:


  • Experience in placing, finishing and repairing concrete, masonry and asphalt.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class "D" Driver's License with "Z" endorsement and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements.
  • Secondary School or equivalent combination of education and experience.

You must also have:


  • Considerable knowledge and skill in the uses of the standard tools, materials, methods and practices used in concrete and asphalt work.
  • Ability to determine work to be done and materials required.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
  • Must be physically capable of performing required duties and able to work and drive in all weather conditions.
  • With the appropriate safety precautions, must be able to tolerate dusty, noisy and odorous conditions and work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be available to work shifts/weekends/overtime/on call duty.
