Cedarwood Village in Simcoe ON is looking for a
Dietary Aide that is dedicated, energetic and above all passionate about preparing and serving nutritious meals to our residents while adhering to food safety, food handling and sanitation procedures.


This is a PART TIME position

  • Shifts include: days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
  • 30 hours biweekly with additional hours available through callin procedure

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Starting rate of pay is
    $19.56 then moves to
    $21.17 after 3 months
  • Benefit package including: Employee and Family Assistance Program, Life Insurance & Pension
    PLUS an additional
    $.25 per hour in lieu of extended health benefits
  • Paid Sick Days

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working alongside the Cook, you will prepare a variety of food according to guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Prepare dining rooms and tables and provide meal service to residents
  • Safely operate a variety of equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, knives, and mixers
  • Clean and sanitize work and dining areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive attitude towards residents, visitors and coworkers
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures including proper food safety, storage, and sanitation
  • Other duties as assigned by Nutrition Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a Food Handler's Certificate (easily obtainable online in a couple of hours)
  • Must have institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality experience, preference will be given to individuals who have previous Long Term Care experience
  • Preference will be given to those applicants that hold a Food Service Worker Certificate
  • Previous experience in food preparation and ware washing
  • Must be available for all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays

SKILLS

  • Must have a sincere interest in people, the elderly in particular, and possess a genuine sensitivity to their needs
  • Must be able to effectively handle the physical aspects of the position including, but not limited to the ability to bend, stand, lift, withstand various range of temperatures and have hands in water and have the ability to work safely by following established safety practices and procedures
  • Able to multitask and complete required routines within assigned schedules
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable within a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written in English)
