Breakdown Detailer
Reports to the Breakdown Manager or delegate on all matters, regarding the assigned and breakdown issue.

Breakdown detailer is a part of the design team and shall ensure to meet all schedules in a timely manner.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
Years of Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years in drafting, parts, and/or breakdown
Working Conditions

  • Site visits requires wearing PPE for all site work and in certain other locations;
  • At times require driving to visit sites; and
  • Flexible to work overtime as required.
Level

  • Detail oriented with the ability to reach architectural/drawings;
  • Knowledgeable in the industry and knows about the products and systems;
  • Knowledgeable in AutoCAD;
  • Ability to act as a mentorship to junior breakdown detailers;
  • Ability to work on many projects that are large and complex;
  • Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment; and
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
Job Specific Duties

  • Review approved shop drawing or markedup shop drawing prior to doing breakdown;
  • Ensure working from the current set of shop drawing and approved sample list;
  • Request BM/PM for cutout markedup if not available yet;
  • Attend a kickoff meeting with the installer to discuss if there are special requirements needed in window installation;
  • Review BM/PM and ensure all responses to RFI and SI are incorporated in the breakdown;
  • Mark all revisions on the shop drawing set used for asbuilt purposes;
  • Site measurement must be laid out in CAD if necessary;
  • Make shop drawing revisions as required;
  • Coordinate with the installer and the FM as requested;
  • Do the breakdown according to standard practice;
  • Prepare sketches where required (i.e. frit pattern, vent box cutouts, etc.);
  • Discuss with the BM/PM and FM if there are any discrepancies between the shop drawing and site measurements;
  • Release breakdown to purchasing and plant as per schedule and procedure;
  • Prepare pull sheets take off per release (extrusion, awning/casement material & swing door) to prepare materials to production;
  • Advise BM/PM ahead of time if schedule will not be et;
  • Complete breakdown package;
  • Coordinate with the Plant Manager and FM with regards to any special site and/or fabrication conditions;
  • Release shop drawings as required; and
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Breakdown Manager.
