  • This position can be based in Gatineau, Montreal or Quebec City._
  • Hours of work: exceptionally, the Cancer Prevention and Health Promotion Specialist will sometimes work in the evenings and on certain weekends, and will travel to Québec for conventions or exhibitions._

JOB OVERVIEW


The Canadian Cancer Society wants to increase the influence of its healthy lifestyle projects to better meet the physical activity needs of youth (5-18 years) and raise their awareness of cancer prevention and health promotion.

As part of the francophone cancer prevention and health promotion team and reporting to the Program Manager, the Cancer Prevention and Health


Promotion Specialist is responsible for implementing active transportation (Trottibus and the On Your Feet Challenge) and UV ray protection programs with target communities.

You will be responsible for promotion and outreach activities while attending meetings with our partners in collaboration with project managers.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Implementation (60%)

  • Support, train and equip project users in the launch and conduct of activities.
  • Organize, plan and lead information meetings with the various stakeholders.
  • Support schools or organizations in recruiting local volunteers.
  • Work in collaboration with project managers to select schools likely to launch one of our programs.
Promotion and outreach (30%)

  • Develop and coordinate activities to promote projects focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle in youth.
  • Present and promote the Trottibus and On Your Feet Challenge healthy lifestyleoriented programs to school boards, schools and other relevant partners.
  • Represent the CCS on healthy lifestyleoriented roundtables at relevant events, conferences or conventions.
Collective contribution (10%)

  • Collaborate on project evaluation and deployment strategies.
  • Collaborate on drafting communications supporting the promotion of projects.
  • Collaborate with various CCS departments, where required.
  • Other tasks:_

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • College diploma or university degree in a relevant field (recreation, teaching, kinesiology, sports, mediation, communication, etc.)
  • Three years of experience in a similar work environment (NPO, community organization, youth 518 years old)
  • Very good knowledge of the educational or community environment
  • Networking and partnership development skills
  • Excellent sense of organization
  • Good team spirit
  • Bilingualism, an asset. Excellent written and oral communication skills in French. Intermediate level in English, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
