Reporting to the Superintendent, the individual will be responsible to support the excavation/backfill and corresponding utility install activities within the Lower Mainland, BC region.


Responsibilities:


  • Utility work, in an outdoor environment, for the relocation, mitigation and maintenance, of various utilities, specific focus on wet utilities.
  • Understanding pipe gradients, pipe materials and specs, fittings and assembly, proper bedding, protection of other services, methods of backfill, compaction etc.
  • Underground services to be installed in busy environments with traffic above and working around existing services.
  • Shoring safety and trench box assembly experience an asset.
  • Supervises and provides clear direction to Utility crew on specific work tasks and deliverables. Provides mentorship and coaching to crew members as required.
  • Assist superintendent with organizing and coordinating the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.
  • Prepares a work plan and hazard analysis for each task and reviews with the Superintendent and crew prior to the start of every operation.
  • Ensures efficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
  • Ensures that site safety measures meet or exceed the parameters set out by the company policies Project Safety Plan; participate & lead in daily toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, and safety field audits tours.
  • Prepares a work plan, quality plan and hazard analysis for each task and reviews with the Superintendent and crew prior to the start of every operation_

  • Assists with maintaining, approving, and submitting hourly timecards with all necessary details for job costing purposes.
  • Completes daily activity reports/daily logs and submits to Superintendent.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Must have experience with trenching, shoring and safe excavation procedures.
  • Must have experience in live utility locating experience.
  • Must have experience working alongside existing traffic and pedestrian congestion.
  • Must have Ground Disturbance Certification Level II & Confined Space Entry Certification
  • A strong safety record with thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions within work area. Demonstration of safe working practices working around live utilities and sloped terrain
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, manage crew in an effective and safe manner attentive to established rules & regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience completing field/site paperwork.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid BC driver's license with clean driver's abstract (Learner and New Driver License are not considered Valid)
  • Have a strong work ethic with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Be a team player who can also work independently to meet deadlines.
  • CSTS and other safety certifications are assets.

Salary:
$42.00-$45.00 per hour

Experience:
