Acts as Group Leader and organizes the work of the Serials Access unit of the Library Acquisitions and Serials Division.

Directs, assigns, and checks the work of junior staff in the unit; creates orders for new library resources; identifies, analyzes, investigates, and resolves problems related to the ordering, acquisition, payment, access, and record keeping/systems of continuing resources (i.e., journals, serials, databases, etc.); and implements new procedures and workflow processes for complex problems (i.e., new resource types, exceptions, and variations that may impact workflows, user access to resources, or payment procedures).

Monitors changes in the academic publishing environment, and recommends new policies and procedures in order to address changes.


Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of general library procedures and terminology.
  • Good knowledge of standards, protocols, and technologies for the interchange of library serials information.
  • Good knowledge of serials and the academic journal publishing environment.
  • Good knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures.
  • Excellent web research and navigating skills.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to use financial reporting systems (i.e., PeopleSoft FINS/FAST) at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to use Internet browser software (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer).
  • Ability to create and update records in a variety of databases with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to direct, assign, and check the work of junior staff.
  • Ability to provide oneonone and group training to junior staff on library serials access and acquisitions procedures and related complex tasks.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and complete a high volume of work within deadlines.
  • Ability to proofread and edit text with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain statistics and records with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to lift, move or carry materials up to 10 kg.

For external candidtes, the starting salary is the first step of the salary range.
