The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and Career Development Bureau are seeking a qualified individual to join our Uniform Recruitment team.

In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will plan, develop and execute social media communication strategies that support and promote Uniform Recruitment within the Ontario Provincial Police.

What can I expect to do in this role?: To plan, develop and execute social media communication strategies that support and promote Uniform Recruitment within the Ontario Provincial Police. To effectively coordinate strategic social media relations programs within Uniform Recruitment.


How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of contemporary strategic communication, media relations and social media marketing theories, trends, techniques, strategies and practices to identify target audiences and objectives and to provide effective communication planning and implementation that link Uniform Recruitment objectives with external environments; positively influence behaviour through mass communication.

Knowledge of print, broadcast and web media monitoring services to monitor social media coverage impacting the organization. Knowledge of Canadian Press Style.


Knowledge of research practices, writing/editing techniques, grammar, punctuation and spelling, policies, writing standards, media/public information release standards and attention to detail to ensure quality, integrity and accuracy of communications products.


Ability to anticipate the effect of an action and prepares in advance for reactions and expectations of senior managers, partners and stakeholders (including government) and the general public.


Knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, OneNote to store completed research and to produce written communication plans, memoranda, reports, charts, tables, graphics, spreadsheets, and presentation material and magazine/information sharing.


Strong oral communication, listening and consultative skills to provide insight and advice, present strategies and develop social media communication plans that are innovative, effective and meet client needs.

Acts as a social media spokesperson for Uniform Recruitment, providing accurate and timely information with confidence and professionalism.


Strong written communication and research skills to prepare social media releases, briefing notes, speeches and other communication materials and strategies ensuring accuracy, consistency, clarity, style, tone, content, grammar, spelling, punctuation and audience suitability in accordance with OPP and Ministry policy.


Ability to develop and maintain respectful and trusting relationships with members at all levels of the organization; actively manage relationships on an ongoing basis to ensure alignment and efficiency of effort and approaches.

Works collaboratively with team members, stakeholders and partners to achieve individual, group and organizational goals.


Research, analytical, creative and evaluative skills to assess recruitment objectives and to develop effective communications strategies and other communications material.
