Overview:

Element has an opportunity for a regular full-time

Shipping and Receiving Technician (Fort St. John, BC). The individual will be responsible for receiving samples, entering client sample information, shipping and receiving, clarifying analysis with clients/lab technicians, internal sublets and other duties as required


Responsibilities:


  • Receive samples and document receipt
  • Inspect samples and sample information sheet, documenting sample integrity
  • Communicate with client when dealing with issues of sample integrity and analysis requests
  • Enter sample and client information into Laboratory Inventory Management System (LIMS)
  • Distribute samples to the correct sample storage location
  • Read, understand and follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ability to lift weight up to 50lbs
  • Shipping personnel have the authority and responsibility to:
  • Oversee all outgoing shipments and maintaining records
  • Maintain appropriate levels of all necessary supplies
  • Label bottles and prepare chemical preservatives
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Strict adherence to the Corporate Quality System
  • Read, understand and follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify coworkers of potential sample hazards; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy

Qualifications:

Physical Demands:

  • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
  • Lifting requirements: lifting
50 lbs. on occasion

  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with related experience
  • On The Job Training Required:
  • Quality System Training
  • WHMIS/Safety Training
  • TDG Training
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of courier services
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient in Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
  • Knowledge of shipping procedures
