IT Project Manager*
Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary Range:
$78,070.60 to $105,624.92


Location:
MITT Campuses and/or remotely, as required


Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)


Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Finance and Campus Services and in close collaboration with MITT's IT and Systems Development staff, the IT Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the coordination and completion of IT projects on-time, on budget and within scope.

The IT Project Manager controls multiple projects concurrently and must be able to manage the expectations of MITT's project sponsors and user groups.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating and executing project work plans and revising as needed to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Managing daytoday operational aspects of a project and scope, collaborating with project teams
  • Communicating relevant project information to managers, clients, and project teams
  • Monitoring project budgets and analyzing project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization
  • Lead project intake activities, planning, scheduling, tracking, management and closure activities
  • Minimizing and mitigating exposure and risk on projects
  • Ensuring that project work results meet the client's requirements and priorities
  • Facilitating project team and client meetings
  • Supporting proposal efforts, including project scoping
  • Coordinating the project intake process, including contracting
  • Assigning and managing resources across multiple projects
  • Incorporate organizational change management best practices into the delivery of projects
  • Create and document client statements of work and proposals
  • Collaborate with the project teams to identify opportunities for improving processes, communications and operating efficiencies for clients and internal company operations
  • Collaborate in writing internal company documentation, processes and manuals to support company operations
  • Prioritize project vs production work items
  • Adhering to MITT's policies, procedures and behaviour standards
  • Serving on MITT committees
  • Interacting with nonMITT parties in a manner that adheres to college policies and establishes functional working relationships

Required Qualifications and Experience*:

  • A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
  • Relevant University degree or college diploma
  • 3+ years of experience in managing projects with a proven track record
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified or equivalent certification
  • Experience in managing custom and COTS software / technology projects
  • Strong knowledge of project management best practices
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Superior relationship management skills
  • Techsavvy, including a working knowledge of project scheduling software such as MS Project or equivalent
  • Ability to maintain and extend technical knowledge and expertise through practice, selfstudy and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with staff, being mindful of individual differences, in an atmosphere of respect and trust.
  • Experience in custom and COTS software / technology projects.
  • Skills in group facilitation, acting as a meeting facilitator, brainstorming techniques, etc.
  • Naturally curious, with demonstrated critical thinking and analytic skills; ability to organize and represent concepts verbally, visually and in written form.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technologies, systems and infrastructures with an understanding of their possibilities and their limits.
  • Ability to maintain business relationships and effective networking;
  • Excellent sense of customer service.
  • Work as a team member to facilitate effective IT services to staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience*:

  • Broad range of experience with business and system solutions for postsecondary settings.
  • Broad range of experience in any/all of functional analysis, process analysis, systems analysis, technical analysis, systems implementation and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully operationalize projects/programs with minimum oversight.
  • Technical expertise regarding data modelling, data handling, data mining and segmentation techniques is an asset.
  • Product design experience, either mobile or desktop.
  • Technical document writing skills, eg. Requirements documents or Solution proposals.
