About Canucks Autism Network (CAN)


Canucks Autism Network (CAN) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC.

Our vision is for every individual on the autism spectrum to be understood, accepted, and supported in all community spaces.


We engage a workforce of over 200 volunteers and 450 frontline staff to deliver programs for children, youth, and adults on the spectrum in communities across British Columbia.

Since its inception in 2008, CAN has directly impacted over 8,000 members on the autism spectrum.


About the Position


We are looking for an experienced Office Manager to oversee the operation of CAN's head office to ensure organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.

The Office Manager will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including streamlining administrative procedures, contract management, purchasing and inventory control, office staff supervision and task delegation, executive and event support.

The Office Manager will be playing the key role in planning and coordinating the office move.


This role is ideal for an energetic professional who doesn't mind wearing multiple hats and is able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Key Functions (Main aspects of the position)

General Office Operation

  • Purchasing office supplies and equipment and ensuring proper stock levels
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of computer and IT equipment
  • Manage corporate cell phone plan
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the office
  • Coordinate ITrelated tasks and projects with the thirdparty service provider
  • Supervising, training, and coaching the office staff and delegating assignments to ensure maximum productivity
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts; liaise with vendors, service providers, and the landlord
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget for the office, analyze and address variances
  • Chair and oversee the work of OHS Committee

Departments and Event Support

  • Assist other departments with placing collateral and swag orders
  • Support Marketing department with fulfilling online store orders and maintaining merchandise inventory
  • Help plan and coordinate internal meetings and support Social Committee with organizing staff social events
  • Support Development department with organizing and coordinating largescale fundraising events
  • Support HR department with onboarding of new hires
  • Provide administrative support to the CEO and the Executive team

Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Administration or related combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 35 years of recent proven experience in office management and/or executive support
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong organizational and problemsolving skills
  • Business acumen, strong negotiation skills and experience with managing contracts
  • Proficient in using a variety of office software (MS Office, Adobe Suite, Smartsheets, etc.) and equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Professional and proactive approach to work, ability to learn quickly and work with mínimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Upbeat and positive attitude with a passion to drive and support continuous improvement process
  • Experience in supporting neurodiverse individuals is considered an asset
