PIPELAYER

ABOUT SIGFUSSON NORTHERN:

***: Reporting to the Sewer and Water Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. This is a rotational based position in a remote location where camp accommodations and meals will be provided.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:


  • Cut, lay, align, and cover pipes for storm and/or sanitary sewers, drains, and water mains
  • Laying and fusing water and sewer HDPE piping
  • Operate butt fusion equipment
  • Conduct pressure testing to ensure proper seal
  • Installation of hydrants and manholes
  • Prepare equipment and supplies prior to a new construction job
  • Provide labour support to other workers as needed or as assigned by supervisors
  • Collect and remove all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of construction equipment and vehicles

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • 2+ years experience with sewer and water construction projects
  • Pipe fusing certification considered an asset
  • Pipelayer certification considered an asset
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including kneeling and standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy loads
  • Ensure safety is a top priority at all times
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to selfstart and take initiative on tasks
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
