Position Scope:


Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Reliability, this position will be responsible for review of oil samples on all NACG various fleets of skid steers, graders, dozers, excavators, shovels, rigid frame haul trucks and articulating trucks.

NACG has built an in-house oil analysis program that strives to provide maximum value to various stakeholders within the company by optimizing predictive maintenance with operational constraints.

The analyst will support this program by interpreting sample results, considering historical trends, previous recommendations, environmental factors, investigation findings, site labour availability, production requirements, component life and various other factors to plan targeted maintenance interventions on the fleet.

The analyst will perform this role for various NACG contract sites around North America remotely from our head office in Acheson, AB.

The analyst will also run a key performance indicator program to track the timeliness and quality of site interventions. This position will ultimately manage the NACG oil sample condition based monitoring program.

Analysts are encouraged to find ways of continuously improving the oil sample program and are often tasked with other heavy equipment reliability projects.


This position is located in the Acheson Industrial Area west of Edmonton.

Salary:
$64,515.00 to $77,798.00 per annum.


Responsibilities:


Review oil sample data and generate alerts with work orders

  • Review moderate to advanced level abnormal/flagged oil samples and determine the appropriate practical resolving action; incorporating recent maintenance intervention information as well as electronic remote reporting data.
  • Generate work orders within the work order system (JD Edwards) for oil sample intervention activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance records in the oil sample results management program are accurate and up to date.
  • Discuss recommended interventions with the site supervision and track site execution of the recommended oil sample intervention actions.

Research oil sample data trends and assist long range planning and reliability with projects and program management

  • Constantly evaluating and updating the sampling and testing requirements of NACG. Work with the lab contractors to improve lab systems and resolve technical issues.
  • Identify any site/fleet or product issues via trends in the sample results.
  • Complete medium complexity oil sample trend analysis as it relates to ongoing reliability troubleshooting and reliability projects by working independently with general supervision. Solves problems that are difficult, but typically not of advanced complexity.

Monthly reporting to different levels of management

  • Report monthly on the oil sampling programs return on investment based on the programs "Saves" and "Losses".

Takes a leadership role in day-to-day operations of the oil sample program

  • Assists with training coop students and new hires
  • Performs occasional site visits
  • Provides input to CBM improvement projects for process and software improvements

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or Mining Engineering degree/technical degree or certified trade.
  • Postsecondary training in oil analysis field is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience desired for evaluating heavy equipment oil samples.
  • New graduates or those with less than 2 years' experience would be considered if relevant skills/experience apply.
  • CLS or OMA I or OMA II is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a reliability based maintenance program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • JDE or ERP System experiences an asset.
  • Capable of both strategic and tactical thinking with a drive to meet quality, schedule and reporting targets.
  • Basic knowledge of heavy equipment and willingness to learn and improve understanding. Interest in heavy equipment reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer skills, working with JDE, Microsoft Excel, Word, Office and other programs
  • Strong interpersonal skill set, will be working with various levels of management
  • Ability to work under pressure and work through complex or unusual situations EG: data research, short time lines, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
  • Self-Starter with drive to take ownership of the program and make continuous improvements.
