Position OverviewKey Responsibilities**
FRONT DESK/RECEPTION

  • Acquire necessary information, ensure current up to date knowledge of all appropriate community resource(s)
  • Ensure principles of health, safety and wellness are adhered to according to relevant legislation and agency policies and procedures
  • Assist callers with registration for internal course offerings (ASIST, Mental Health First Aid) including processing payments
  • Support Walkin Counselling with registration as needed one evening per week when in person

CLIENT SUPPORT/SYSTEM NAVIGATION

  • Ensure the use of the Recovery Model while providing client services and assistance
  • Assess needs and provide appropriate linkage to internal and external resources/community agencies in an unbiased and nonjudgmental manner
  • Follow up on inquiries to ensure that clients have received adequate support and/or appropriate services as needed
  • Attend meetings with community mental health partners, ensure understand principles of system navigation and how to convey this to clients to best support them in accessing the services they require.

INTAKE & DATA TRACKING

  • Support the Intake and Referral department with incoming referrals, intake, and waitlist management as needed
  • Track key agency outcome measures through data collection running statistical reports
  • Assist with Ontario Perception of Care administration and reporting

OFFICE & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

  • Provide general administrative support to Client Services, Finance, HR, Operations and IT functions as required
  • Support courier drop/pickups, sorting/distribution of mail and other general office duties as assigned
  • Assist with copying, printing and updating or creating general office documents as requested
  • Assist group facilitators with room and material preparation
  • Maintain petty cash
  • Responsible for issuing tax receipts for donations
  • Responsible for the ordering and maintenance of office and kitchen supplies for each site
  • Coordinate business cards for all new staff

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • University degree or college diploma in a social services/psychology related field is a requirement for this position.
  • Certification as a Certified Information and Referral Specialist (CIRS) a definite asset
  • A minimum of two years' experience working within the social services sector
  • Current knowledge of programs, services and resources available in Halton Region and ability to assist clients with navigating these.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of client groups, particularly those with mental health or substance use concerns.
  • Possess a high level of cultural competence and the ability to work with clients with diverse cultural and social backgrounds
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict management/resolution an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation including the Mental Health Act
  • Ability to meet variable scheduling requirements including weeknight availability as required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of EMHware database an asset
  • Training in CPR, First Aid and ASIST either completed or in progress
  • Clear Vulnerable sector screening required upon hire
  • Ability to speak a second language would be considered an asset
