Westpower is a leading North American rotating equipment solutions provider with services spanning industrial and engineered pumps, fabricated engineered fluid systems, reliability and lubrication products, field service and repair solutions that enhance performance.


The Solidworks Draftsperson will work closely with the Senior Engineer, Product Development to produce Solidworks models and machine drawings for various products.


EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • CAD Technician, Drafting Technologist, or similar education.
  • Experience with Solidworks 3d Modelling / Drafting.
  • Experience with Solidworks Surface Modelling would be an asset.
  • Experience developing CNC machining G-CODE would be an asset.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Previous experience with CMM and 3D scanning equipment would be an asset.
  • Experience with PLM / PDM / ERP software would be an asset.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Taking conceptual designs and producing initial models for engineering review.
  • Collaborate with the engineer to finalize designs.
  • Produce models / machine drawings / DXF files / foundry level casting models required for each product.
  • Measure existing components with manual measurement tools / laser scanner for part reproduction.
  • Perform complex surface modelling of pump hydraulic components (Impellers, Volutes, Screws, etc.)
  • Maintain drawing libraries in an appropriate manner.
  • Assist in improving drafting practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Involvement in procurement of components, review of machining deviations / QC processes.
  • Work as a team with other departments.
  • Other duties as required.
  • This position may require some travel 5%.
