CNC Machinist - Calgary, Canada - Westpower
Description
The CNC Machinist primary focus is to program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and milling machines for metallic work pieces by performing the necessary steps according to drawings and specifications provided by the company's engineering department.
The CNC Machinistis required to have sufficient experience or familiarity with the programs and equipment used.Education, Skills and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Must have Journeyman Machinist Trade Certification
- Must be able to read and understand written planning and follow verbal instructions.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
- Ability to detect technical malfunctions and repair the same.
- Computer literacy
- Reading and interpreting of blue prints
- Past experience with Pumps and Pump systems an asset.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans machining through work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, reference plans, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters. Interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions. Sets tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
- Calculates requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Setsup mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, firstrun part, and sample workpieces; adhering to standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting.
- Sharpen and replacing worn tools.
- Positions parts within chucks and centers by hand and with use of jib hoists and overhead cranes.
- Will crosstrain on other manual machinery as familiarity with equipment develops.
- Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing minor preventive maintenance requirements and following manufacturer's instructions.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality reports.
- Preparation/confirmation of the required quality documentation
- Keeping the working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition.
- Handling installation fixtures and measurement equipment needed for operation.
- Able to work overtime as needed.
- Any other job related and support activity duties as required.

$25.00-$38.00 per hour
