    Duties

    Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is a comprehensive institution focused on students, with over 40 years of experience in post-secondary education and training. Located on the traditional land of the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc people in Kamloops, BC, TRU's main campus offers world-class tourism and over 2,000 hours of sunshine annually. The Faculty of Arts is seeking a candidate for a tenure-track position in Creative Writing within the Department of Literatures, Languages, and Performing Arts. Responsibilities include:

    • Teaching creative writing at all levels, including playwriting, short fiction, and creative non-fiction.
    • Contributing to the development of a new Major program combining Theatre and Creative Writing.
    • Fostering collaboration and networking within the department and beyond to create interdisciplinary connections and projects.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should possess:

    • MFA in Creative Writing or equivalent, along with demonstrated teaching experience.
    • Published creative writing works in respected journals and by reputable publishers.
    • Experience in the creative industries sector with diverse stakeholders.
    • History of teaching post-secondary Creative Writing and Literature courses.
    • Proven record of departmental and broader service.
