The vision for the Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS) Department is to inspire trust among citizens and City Council in our commitment and ability to deliver quality infrastructure.

We are seeking an individual who is extremely driven, highly motivated and can help advance the vision for capital projects into reality, driving a positive transformation of downtown revitalization and vibrancy.

In this role, you will be in a unique position as a City connection for businesses and residents while also promoting our City's upcoming capital projects.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a stakeholder relationship strategy and program, communications plan and customer service planning for the Downtown Capital Program
  • Be the main point of contact for key external stakeholders and partner organizations on the Downtown Capital Program for information sharing and issues management
  • Facilitate discussions to gather insights on stakeholder concerns and assess the impact of changes
  • Lead efforts with project management teams to deliver, promote and advance the required changes and adjustments
  • Work with communications and engagement teams and project management teams to establish an integrated and coordinated communication strategy
  • Work with project management teams to ensure appropriate levels of transparency, disclosure and accountability in the management and release of project information
  • Coordinate communication with City Council, including supporting or leading Council and Committee reports, information briefings, inquiry responses and other communications
  • Ensure projects within the scope of the Downtown Capital Program are strategically coordinated and aligned with corporate and cross departmental initiatives such as the Community Safety and Wellbeing Strategy, Downtown Vibrancy Strategy, and Economic Action Plan
  • Connect regularly with project management teams, stakeholders and industry to ensure that the projects are on track to deliver key outcomes
  • Work with project management teams to develop and maintain an integrated risk management plan and approach
  • Establish and lead appropriate governance structures to support the successful delivery of the program such as, steering committees, working committees and stakeholder engagement groups
  • Report regularly to the Department Leadership Team and other City internal business partners
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:


  • University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related discipline such as Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management or Project Management
  • A minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in a combination of: strategic/operational business planning, working with corporate performance measures and budgets, policy development and leadership and project management experience
  • Coursework/training in project management; financial management; or other leadership training would be an asset
  • Professional or technical designations such as PMP or CPA or similar would be considered an asset
  • Program / project experience must be related to the delivery / construction of transportation infrastructure projects in urban environments
  • Experience working within a public sector environment would be an asset
  • Demonstrated experience providing guidance to and successfully working with project managers, business professionals and multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of projects
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership, facilitation and consensus building skills with the ability and willingness to delegate and empower others
  • Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communications and public engagement plans
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong, strategic relationships and deliver work in a collaborative and integrated manner
  • Excellent consultation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, with experience in solving complex and sensitive issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presenting
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information and make timely recommendations and decisions
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures, for example, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, environmental regulations and the Builders Lien Act
  • Access to transportation either through vehicle, transit or other active means to attend meetings offsite is required
