Part-time Parking Control Officer

(UNIFOR Local 5555 Parking and Transit Services Unit 3)


General Description:


Part time Parking Control Officer in Security and Parking Services Provide front line customer service and assistance of parking inquiries from campus community and visitors, while governing yourself in a respectful and professional manner.

Address and resolve customer concerns all the while adhering to Parking Services Regulations.

Support the operation and maintenance of the parking automation system. Demonstrate the core values of the administration division Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Respect and trust.

Representative Duties & Responsibilities

  • Customer Service (assist visitors and permit holders admittance to parking lots, processparking payments and provide wayfinding to customers.
  • Carrying out traffic control duties (which include, but limited to, redirecting traffic, assisting with lane closures, handling traffic flow through McMaster Campus).
  • Comprehend and carry out daytoday enforcement duties
  • Knowledge and compliance of parking regulations
  • Assist in the maintenance of automation equipment (reset power to gate and ticket stations, recalibrate ticket stations, replace damaged gate arms and replenish receipt and ticket paper.
  • Monitor parking automation intercom and respond to customer calls
  • Assist with collection of revenue for pay stations and pay by plate meters
  • Educate cyclists on proper storage locations for bicycles.
  • Observe and report all parking lot and automation equipment deficiencies and report immediately to Shift Leader. This includes but not limited to signage, asphalt, automation equipment, snow removal and parking lot debris.
Reporting Component

  • Complete and record daily activity report for duties performed on shift. Complete occurrence reports (if applicable), and technical reports. (If required).
  • Report immediately to Supervisor and/or Security all work place injury, motor vehicle collisions, abuse of automation equipment, intentional damage to automation equipment. Document the incident/injury and submit as soon as possible.

Health and Safety

  • Required to complete departmental Health and Safety training matrix.

Qualifications:


  • Requires 1 year of relevant customer service experience
  • Must be a enrolled full time in post secondary education
  • Proven strengths will include the ability to learn other software programs as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Essential customer service skills: Patience attentiveness and ability to use positive language.
  • Time management skills
