Job Summary


The Ocean Cargo Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day coordination of ocean shipments, as well as providing client service/support while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of the operational process.

Morning and afternoon shifts may be available.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle ocean shipments for both import and export
  • Arrange and planning of shipment delivery/pickup with transportation companies, track and trace shipments to final destinations and ensuring the most appropriate method for shipping
  • Verify accuracy of all freight documentation and booking information prior to the execution of shipments while ensuring the proper approval process has been followed.
  • Obtain, check, and prepare documentation to meet customers and insurance requirements while following compliance with other countries' regulations and fiscal regimes
  • Provide exceptional client service
  • Build and maintain good business relationship with both clients and carriers
  • Handle all incoming communications with clients and other business partners in a timely and professional manner.
  • Resolve any operational issues and customer complaints as they arise and implement measure to prevent their frequency and recurrence
  • Audit supplier's invoice and reconcile payments/remittances
  • Responsible for billing of shipments, ensure that all charges for services rendered are included, and the rates are billed according to quotation
  • Various other duties as may be required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 years' experience in Ocean operations handling both import & export shipments
  • General knowledge of the freight forwarding and NVOCC environment
  • Ability to provide quality service for our customers by understanding their needs and requirements
  • Able to work independently as well as a part of a team with limited supervision
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong time management; able to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word

Education/Certifications

  • University degree / college diploma in business or related field, or combination of education and experience
  • IMDG Dangerous Goods certification (an asset)
