NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Established in 1979, Toro Aluminum has become a leader in the development and manufacturing of window walls and doors for high-rise condominiums, office buildings and hotels, across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
REPORTING
The Production Supervisor - Day Shift reports to the Shift Supervisor at Toro Aluminum. He or she is responsible for supervising the operations of the department.
SHIFT
Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 6:00pm
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supervise department by ensuring that all aspects of production and quality are met.
- Ensure that management is informed daily about quality, quantity, personnel, safety and any other issues that require attention.
- Train and evaluate employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
- Investigate and deal with personnel issues where required.
- Responsible and capable of manufacturing an initial part and compare initial parts to quality samples.
- Continuously monitor process for safety, quality, etc.
- Resolve work/machinery problems and request materials and supplies when needed.
- Prepare production and other reports.
- Attend and contribute to production meetings.
- Interact with maintenance to facilitate effective P.M execution and timely crisis repairs.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safety rules and all regulations are followed. Ensure protective gear is worn as required.
- Any other job related and support activity duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of related experience, preferably within the aluminum industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma.
- Experience supervising in a unionize environment considered an asset
- Demonstrate leadership, problem solving, coaching, technical skills and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and organization skills.
- Experience supervising and working with a team of people.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel).
- Experienced with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S and other productivity initiatives is an asset.
- Experience working with HR Software
- Ceridian
- Dayforce considered an asset
