$50,000 (negotiable depending on credentials)


Full-time: 37.5 hours per week

What does success look like at Pinnguaq?

  • Engaging with thousands of young learners and adults across the country through the delivery of communitycentred workshops.
  • Designing and deploying interactive experiences, online learning modules, and maker kits to teach STEAM fundamentals to all ages.
  • Publishing the nationallyrecognized Root & STEM magazine, create a space to explore diverse voices and stories in STEAM.
  • Operating makerspaces in Nunavut & Ontario providing handson access to tools, equipment, and training for inquisitive minds and makers.
As a STEAM Educator, you will be responsible for planning and delivering Pinnguaq's STEAM programs.

As part of the delivery division you will be leading high-quality learning experiences in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities in Ontario.

Being part of the delivery team is being the public face of the Pinnguaq Association and an ambassador of the work we do.

You will build community, STEAM and digital skills with the learners, and make long-lasting sustainable relationships.


What does success in this role look like?

  • Working collaboratively with the Ontario Delivery Team STEAM Educators and the Makerspace Lead to identify programming needs in the City of Kawartha Lakes and occasionally beyond.
  • Developing and delivering highquality, communitycentred, playbased STEAM and digital skills programming for City of Kawartha Lakes learners of all ages.
  • The Pinnguaq Kawartha Lakes Makerspace is the spot for STEAM afterschool programming, field trips, and other community events.

Responsibilities:


  • Work collaboratively with the Ontario Delivery Team STEAM Educators and the Makerspace Lead to identify programming needs in the City of Kawartha Lakes and occasionally beyond.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in team meetings and working groups to determine upcoming Afterschool, Teen, and Camp programming themes.
  • Engage with and respond to community members and learners to ensure our programming is communitydriven and accessible.
  • Fill out Forecasting document as per established timelines to share upcoming programming content with key stakeholders across Pinnguaq.
  • Develop and deliver highquality, communitycentred, playbased STEAM and digital skills programming for City of Kawartha Lakes learners of all ages.
  • Based on pertinent pedagogy and androgogy, buildout curriculum resources (eg. slide decks, activity plans, supplies lists, etc.) for upcoming programming and store these in appropriately labeled folders within the 03 Delivery Shared Drive.
  • Foster an environment wherein participants enjoy an exceptional program experience and are challenged in a positive, growthminded manner.
  • Maintain teaching and tech equipment to ensure longevity of our programs.
  • Create programming registration pages on related platforms as needed.
  • Record attendance, and input evaluation data for delivery events including preregistered programs, inperson deliveries and live virtual deliveries.
  • Capture delivery events through photos and videos.
  • Work collaboratively across Pinnguaq to develop and experiment with learning resources to ensure the best learning experiences.

These will include but aren't limited to:
activity plans, slide decks, video tutorials, tutorials, podcasts, etc.

  • Represent the Pinnguaq Association in a respectful and sensitive manner.
  • Ability to work inperson in our Lindsay Makerspace, Lindsay ON location, and in community locations across the City of Kawartha Lakes and in adjacent communities. When needed, work independently and remotely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Attributes and Qualifications:


  • Experience and passion for leading youth and adult educational workshops and programming.
  • Collaborative and flexible team player, capable of working in a dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and digital tools.
  • Teacher Certification and/or teaching experience is an asset.
  • Experience with media and technology, and basic coding concepts is an asset.
  • Valid G class drivers licence, clean driving record, ability to drive Sprinterstyle van are assets.
  • A Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer (if over the age of 18).
