Sheridan faculty provide academic leadership to programs and courses within their areas of expertise and contribute to the creation of a learning-centred environment where students can develop to their full potential.

They also contribute to College, Faculty, and program excellence by collaborating on a variety of initiatives such as new program development, applied research and alternative delivery strategies.

Within this context of inspiring innovation and excellence, the Pilon School of Business is currently seeking a full-time Professor, Interdisciplinary Competency Development & Reflective Learning.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ensuring program and course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of emerging and best practices
  • Facilitating the growth and development of a highimpact interdisciplinary approach to competencybased learning across the business curriculum
  • Cultivating an interdisciplinary competencybased learning community of practice
  • Teaching and developing curriculum for courses that focus on cultivating the development of discipline specific technical and critical 21st century competencies
  • Designing, development and teaching program and course curricula that are inclusive, current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
  • Defining, evaluating, and validating applied learning outcomes for courses and programs
  • Creating an effective environment for learning which accommodates students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles
  • Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning
  • Developing multimedia materials and alternative delivery strategies and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the applied learning process
  • Ensuring that students are aware of course and program learning outcomes, learning strategies and evaluation techniques
  • Providing individual tutoring and academic counselling and evaluating student progress/achievement within assigned courses
  • Contributing to the advancement of scholarly research and knowledge in competency development, reflective learning, and transformative teaching and learning in business education
  • Attending periodic community meetings

  • Master's degree in business, Education, or related field of study with an emphasis in Adult Education, or Adult Learning and Development. PhD preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant practical and professional experience required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the design, development, and delivery of curriculum that promotes critical reflection and transformative learning is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reflective and transformative teaching and learning practices and curriculum development is required
  • Demonstrated skill in facilitating mastery of interdisciplinary competencies (such as critical thinking & problem solving, communication & collaboration, initiative & leadership, research & innovation, and social responsibility & ethics), within a broad array of interdisciplinary and integrated learning experiences while supporting other faculty as they integrate these competencies into their practice
  • Success with building a sustainable community of practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and proficiency in, facilitating experiential, problembased, and critically reflective learning
  • Demonstrated cap
