General Accountability:


  • Provides project management support by establishing, monitoring and updating multiple project schedules through the planning, design, procurement, construction and testing/commissioning phases. Uses standard scheduling techniques in accordance with established procedures.

Key Job Functions:


  • Plan, develop, and maintain the project Master construction schedule to meet the project objectives.
  • Develop detailed project schedules by identifying tasks/activities, sequencing work packages/activities, developing network models, preparing logic diagrams, and establishing critical path and project duration.
  • Perform schedule control by determining critical path analysis, planned value, earned value, schedule variance, and schedule performance indices; perform schedule risk analysis, and recommend corrective action when required.
  • Update project schedules to reflect progress against project plan and prepare various reports.
  • Attend design and construction review meetings and contribute to the design and construction process affecting timing, sequencing, and staging of contracts.
  • Review, analyze, and comment on the Contractor's scheduling submissions as requested, prior to approval.
  • Visit sites to ascertain scope and staging of projects prior to tendering and during the construction phase to review progress.
  • Prepare costloaded schedules on selected projects with data as supplied by the project team.
  • Provide specialized scheduling services, such as evaluation of alternative construction and testing scenarios, recovery schedule, and change impact analysis.
  • Monitor schedule compliance and report to the project team regarding deviation from approved project schedule developed upon completion of scope definition.

Education and Experience:


  • Completion of a postsecondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g. project management, scheduling, engineering, construction), along with related experience in planning and scheduling or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Formal training/certification in project management is considered a definite asset.

Additional Requirements:


  • Comprehensive knowledge of scheduling practices and procedures (i.e. work breakdown structures, organization breakdown structures, claims analysis, CPM based scheduling, earned value and risk management)
  • Handson experience in preparing various types of schedules for multidiscipline, complex construction projects
  • Sound understanding of basic engineering and construction methodologies
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • Sound judgement; strong organizational, administration, analytical, and problem solving abilities
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must attend and successfully complete Subway/SRT Rule Book certification (including recertification as appropriate)
