Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Job Summary


We are seeking part-time and fulltime
Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (Ultrasound Technologist) is responsible for providing patient care services using ultrasound diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with clinic policy and procedures.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is accountable for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, for performing and communicating the results of diagnostic examinations using sonography.

They are responsible for the daily operations of the sonographic exam area, reporting equipment concerns and ensuring quality exams are complete.

At all times our Diagnostic Medical Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics and is self motivated for continuous learning in this field and any new procedures as they evolve.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform ultrasound diagnostic imaging procedures, according to best practices and clinic standards in a timely and efficient manner and utilize advanced imaging equipment and related computer systems.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, radiologists and other physicians.
  • Be familiar with operating the Siemens S100 Ultrasound System.
  • Be familiar with PACS and other medical imaging software used by the Employer.
  • Verify accuracy of patient demographic information, pertinent clinical diagnoses, and required technical results.
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of imaging procedures.
  • Provides necessary patient care during the course of imaging procedures.
  • Maintain uptodate CPR and other emergency response training as required by the Employer from time to time.
  • Assure cleanliness of exam areas and restocks supplies as needed.
  • Assist with clinic administrative functions when required.
  • Maintain courteous customer service towards patients, visitors and staff.
  • Be familiar with and abide by the Employer's safety and other policies.
  • Other various tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or similar accredited program.
  • Minimum of five years experience.
  • A member in good standing with Sonography Canada and the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP).
  • Maintain a policy of professional liability insurance with coverage amounts satisfactory to the Employer.
  • Ability to operate sonographic equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire diagnostic information.
  • Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt sonographic examination as necessary.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and healthcare team.
  • Ability to follow established departmental procedures
Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations
