***: Reporting to the Plant Manager and directing the maintenance team, the Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance activities at the Dundas, Ontario location.

This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the Dundas facility with a focus on health and safety, maintenance costs, personnel development, and human resources standards and ensuring high levels of employee, customer, and financial satisfaction.

The Maintenance Manager is also a key member of the sites Plant Operations Committee working collaboratively with all other department heads as a unified Leadership Team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage the maintenance department within a fast paced, manufacturing environment including fostering positive relationships
  • Lead, mentor and support the Maintenance Supervisor and department employees in the maintenance of plant equipment to ensure it can meet quality, efficiency and yield standards; takes a leadership role in all investigations, inspections, and audits.
  • Fosters positive relationships within the maintenance departments, on the production floor and at all levels of the business and with all external contacts.
  • Lead and participate in Capital Projects and Operational Improvement Projects
  • Assume a Leadership role in the Health and Safety program, including driving a safety focused culture on the shop floor and safety related Work Orders.
  • Administrate and publish reports on all first aids, medical aids and lost time accidents; participates in and supports all accident investigations.
  • Ensure current and future departmental compliance with all standards, including the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, CFIA, etc.
  • Take the departmental lead in maintaining, developing and compliance with the HACCP plan, GMP's, SOP's and procedures within the Maintenance department, and when overlapping with other departments and business units.
  • Provide support and facilitate effective work group meetings within the Maintenance department.
  • Ensure the completion of time and attendance records (Kronos) for all Maintenance employees.
  • Set and manage all maintenance and work scheduling to minimize overtime, reduce downtime and maximize throughput.
  • Complete and communicate daily and weekly performance reports.
  • Collaborate with other key stake holders in 5S program development, execution and maintenance.
  • Actively involved in the budget process.
  • Complete Safety scorecard and personal performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to create professional development plans for direct reports, giving importance to personal goals and objectives.

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:


  • Millwright or Electrician license is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a food or rendering environment considered an asset but not required
  • Knowledge of health & safety, CFIA, MOECC regulations and requirements
  • Enthusiastic, positive and selfmotivated, with an ability to work independently
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and organizational skills
  • Supervisory experience illustrating an inclusive team management style approach
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills to assist with staff development
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast pace environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with 5S and Lean methodology and philosophy an asset
  • Strong communication skills and cooperation required across other functional business areas, across Corporate teams, regulatory bodies, communities, and local businesses
